WE DON’T HAVE TO CREATE A WORLD IN WHICH MACHINES ARE TELLING US WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO THINK, ALTHOUGH WE MAY VERY WELL END UP IN A WORLD LIKE THAT WHERE ALGORITHMS DECIDE WHO LIVES OR WHO DIES

You can write volumes on the state of the world, but one has only to look at the state of the world to see what algorithms are doing.

Algorithms form an increasingly important part of our daily lives, even if we are often unaware of it.

Most of us have no idea what they are — or how we’re being influenced by them.

They have become instrumental in our everyday lives.

Algorithms are making hugely consequential decisions in our society on everything from medicine to transportation to welfare benefits to criminal justice and beyond. Subtly shifting the way our society is operating.

We can see them at work in the world. We know they’re shaping outcomes all around us.

Are we making a mistake by handing over so much decision-making authority to these programs?

This paradox—that the internet is both saviour and executioner of democracy is part of a massive unfolding social experiment.

The proliferation of algorithms is eroding our ability to think and decide for ourselves. They are turning people into products, and they don’t even realize it.

Billions of people around the world are interacting with these technologies, which is why the tiniest changes can have such a gigantic impact on all of humanity.

We will blindly follow them wherever they lead us. There is no one assessing whether or not they are providing a net benefit or cost to society.

WE DON’T HAVE TO CREATE A WORLD IN WHICH MACHINES ARE TELLING US WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO THINK, ALTHOUGH WE MAY VERY WELL END UP IN A WORLD LIKE THAT WHERE ALGORITHMS DECIDE WHO LIVES OR WHO DIES.

How you see the world matters.

————————

Beliefs are the things we hold true, regardless of whether we have any proof of their objective truth.

You see, in time, beliefs become labels.

We plaster them on our foreheads and use them to justify our action or inaction. That belief will then drive how you behave as you interpret it as being damning or empowering.

We all would be a lot happier if everyone else around us had the same beliefs as we do, or at least, that they would not challenge us on them. Of course, that is impossible, and this is precisely what fuels most of the world’s conflicts.

And here comes the kicker:

You can decide the direction you take. Your beliefs do not control you, so long as you become self-aware and take charge of your life. Or maybe if you assume everything will fall apart, you never get disappointed.

So, herein lies the persistent conflict of our society:

All of us are driven by our life experiences and by merely being human, but the creeping influence of algorithms in our lives are fucking up the world. We’re increasingly moving towards government by algorithm.

Automated systems are being rolled out with little transparency or public debate, and risk exacerbating existing inequalities.

The algorithm takes the biases and prejudices of the real world and ‘bakes them in’, and gives them a veneer that makes it seem like a policy choice is actually neutral and technical. But it isn’t,”

The problem is, both beliefs and values have strong momentum and seem glued to our character.

How do these beliefs played out in real life?

Are we just becoming throwaway survival machines, following our genetic and neurological programming in an indifferent world?

I believe that human life and the world mean much more than that.

There’s beauty everywhere—we have only to open our eyes to see it.

When it comes to climate change, the science is settled.

When it comes to technology its all together the opposite.

The sobering truth is that both the climate and technology are out of control.

Given the difficulty of getting the human brain or our political system to tackle anything beyond immediate crises, our attempts to rectify what’s wrong are usual puny compared to what’s really needed.

If you listen to our politicians, there is a strong consensus on climate change.

It consists of four parts.

First, carbon emissions are causing significant changes to our climate. Second, we need to take urgent action to reduce those emissions, including reaching net zero by 2050. Third, we have already made good progress in reducing emissions. And fourth, the steps we need to take to reduce emissions further will also bring many positive benefits for society.

We have a pretty clear understanding of the threat climate change poses to us, our children and our grandchildren. We are already being forced to cope with more droughts, more floods, more extreme storms. At the same time, we have in our arsenal effective policies that are difficult for rational people to demagogue as crippling to the economy or as a subversion of our cherished way of life.

So why does climate misinformation continue to spread online and in our media?

Dire warnings of the looming climate disaster may just make people throw up their hands in despair, sink into denial, or dig their heels in deeper against government action.

Instead, we seem to firmly believe that climate solutions inevitably mean more government, higher taxes and less freedom — and thus are threats to all our core values and identity.

Technology’s benefits are numerous in all fields, however in the system’s that effect our daily lives it is becoming a threat to our core values, through the use of algorithms. Pushing us like a digital slave army to mindlessly, unwittingly and unwillingly livestream our digital existences into the commercial coffers of companies that see us as nothing more than walking dollar signs.

Examples:

Every time you pick up your smartphone, you’re summoning algorithms. At this point, they are responsible for making decisions about pretty much every aspect of our lives.

The right to an explanation of an algorithm-generated decision does little to fix “systemic injustices” Getting an explanation but no democratic say in how systems work is like getting a privacy policy without a ‘do not consent’ button.

Deciding who gets access to welfare. Using automated interviews with a virtual border guard, based on “deception detection algorithm. Using algorithms to model when and where crime will happen — an area known as predictive policing — is on the rise. Using algorithms to come up with a personality assessment. Having your credit rating scored decided by an algorithm based on questionable data.

Grading algorithm does not not relied solely on automated means. Substituting a mathematical approach for human judgment does not automatically make it fair.

Profit seeking algorithms. Market making algorithms. Execution algorithms Scheduled algorithms. Participation algorithms. VWAP and TWAP algorithms are time-slicing algorithms. Liquidity-seeking algorithms (a.k.a. opportunistic algorithms) Arrival price algorithms seek to trade close to market prices.

Recent developments in algorithmic trading include clustering and high-frequency market forecasting  are playing a central role in finance.

The worst-case scenario is that we fail to disrupt the status quo, in which very powerful companies develop and deploy AI in invisible and obscure ways.

We have no right to see all of the data these companies collect about us, no right to get a percentage when they resell our data without our knowledge or informed consent, no right to ask them to stop. We are for all purposes indentured servants, offered free digital room and board in return for paying with our digital souls and our real-world time.

Social media companies have managed only to create a toxic brew of horrific hate speech that they cannot seem to get rid of.

Algorithms really are so powerful that a few lines of code can push us into any behaviour.

The right message targeted at the right time could mass convert the entire population of a country into mindless zombies who would readily convert even their most deeply held beliefs in an instant.

When it is obvious to all is that the world is changing, responding faster than expected to Technology’s

Why are we being such idiots?

What gives? It’s not that we are stupid or blind our core values are under attack.

If everything is a core value, then nothing is really a priority.

In this age where technology is dominant, core values may seem like something from the past. So core values may not seem like they have a place.

All of this data is used first and foremost to make money from us.

There is a really frustrating lag between what AI is capable of and what it’s legislated for.

Core values are the foundational beliefs held by an individual or an organisation.

Anyone can go to Google and search the meaning of core values,. There are another thing on your to-do list that you don’t have time for, but what about the bigger picture?

When you hear about core values, what comes to mind?

Core values make the biggest difference between successful and failure.

There are more than just words on a wall — it’s how you behave. It’s who you are at your core.

Everyone knows their role, what is expected of them, and they are empowered to act in accordance with their core values.

Once upon a time voting or making decisions in alignment with your core values were the foundation of who we are as individuals. Not any longer with Algorithms running social media.

——————–

To look at it simply, culture is just a collection of people. It is the environment created by the cumulative behaviour of the people.

We all have things that we value deeply, whether we realize it or not.

You remember values, don’t you? You know, those moral thoughts and behaviours we used to hold dear, like decency, civility, honesty and respect, as well as caring, optimism, empathy, and tolerance?

They were once a beacon of idealism. Rewarding behaviour based on them, and align all of our decisions with them.

Core values represent the lens which we view the world. They must be embedded in everything we do.

These “alt” credos and codes of behaviour are the trademarks of the incivility we witness on a daily basis, often expressed with rancour and rage. They have become commonplace on television, in social media and in everyday life. Of even more concern is that these new “moral standards” serve as models of behaviour for our impressionable children and youth.

Hold one another accountable for staying aligned with the values—it’s better not to profess any values at all.

———————

Education and knowledge were cornerstones of our achievement.

We are now living in society that at large looks to social media /television and film personalities for political advice.

You must ensure they are accurate, meaningful, relatable and fully operationalized.

If we continue our descent into callousness, selfishness and hostility, we negatively impact and harm the quality of our lives. We could lose sight of our basic human values and diminish the essence of what MAKES THE WORLD BEAUTIFUL.

Achieving a more transparent and less manipulative media may well be the defining political battle of the 21st century.

Just as we are using our formidable intellect and creativity to reduce our carbon footprint, we can similarly mobilize our resources to improve our emotional footprint, or how we treat and affect each other.

Values are the criteria by which individuals judge ideas, objects, people, situations, and actions as good, worthwhile, desirable, wrong, worthless, or undesirable

.Values are individuals’ embedded abstract motivations. They guide individuals to understand, justify, and explain norms, attitudes, and actions. One of the limitations of examining values is that values cannot  be generalized because they vary between a person and another, culture and another, society and another, even a country and another, thus scrutinizing values will be different in the future.

Core values can be only be fostered in Education, not in schools but with compulsory NATIONAL SERVICE.

IS THIS COUNTRY FACING THE END OF TIME? ARE THE PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY OBLIVIOUS TO ANY REALITY OR TRUTH, OR ARE THEY SIMPLY CONSUMED BY IGNORANCE, PASSIVITY, COWARDICE, AND MEDIOCRITY?

While loyalty to self and truth is not slavery, allegiance to any country, government, or ruling class is slavery. Inherent in this thinking is the fact that believing or trusting any ruling individual or entity without absolute verification at every level, is the basis for societal destruction at the hands of the few due to blind obedience to falsely claimed authority. Lies and deceit are the tools of tyrants and come in the forms of outright deception to manipulative propaganda. These traits are always evident, but today they are completely overt, as lies and truth are both used in devious ways in order to gain compliance and control.

This can be seen in the conflicts sustained and encouraged and the non-existent virus pandemic has been used to instill great fear in the unsuspecting minds of the masses to such an extent, that most have been willing to give up all normalcy and sanity in their lives and the lives of their families. They have due to false trust been duped into behavior that can only be described as psychotic in nature. This has led to voluntary self-imprisonment, isolation, business and job destruction, mask-wearing, travel immobilization, and total lockdowns. It has led to greater sickness, death, and economic devastation as well, all in the name of ‘health security and obedience to power at the expense of all freedom. This should serve as the final valuable lesson learned by even the most common of men because it should be obvious that relying on the state in any capacity whatsoever can only lead to an enslaved society dependent on a master class for its very existence and survival. This of course is what is sought; a communistic based technocratic ‘civilization’ controlled by the few.

Is this country facing the end of time? Are the people in this country oblivious to any reality or truth, or are they simply consumed by ignorance, passivity, cowardice, and mediocrity? Will this onslaught of tyranny by the controlling class and the politicians continue unabated, or will enough wake up in time to stand against the total decimation of their lives, their property, their freedom, and their land? What could possibly motivate the masses to voluntarily accept their own servitude, a servitude that can only lead to their imminent demise?

Even the most simplistic life forms on this planet possess the basic instinct of self-defense, so why is it that the supposed most intelligent of all living beings can be controlled and brutalized to the point of extinction, without lifting a finger to protect their own interests? Today in America, the people are drowning in a pool of their own blood, while their chosen masters are feasting on the remains.

There is very little time left to change this course we are on today, as this plot toward the great reset of the world is close at hand. In the past when liberty has been threatened, some fought back and won, but most sat back and waited, hoping others would come to their rescue, and save them from themselves. Every time threats have come and gone, there was less freedom and much more control. Each and every tyrannical event brought an assault against liberty that remained long after any so-called ‘return to normal’ was expected.

‘Normal’ has been forever changing, meaning every new normal resulted in less freedom and more authoritarian measures. That is until today, as now we face an end to any freedom and a life of submission and enslavement. Unless and until the current ruling oligarchy is eliminated or weakened to the point of impotence, and by whatever means necessary, the tyranny will run its course until it has total control or the entire system collapses under its own weight.

Throughout history, kingdoms, states, and nations have come and gone. Empires reign, but always eventually fall.  After societal failure, a better system may be in place temporarily, as happened here in this country after the ousting of British rule, but due to power, greed, and weak and complacent populations, the collapse of societies has always been inevitable. This one is no different. The real question is how long will it last?

Considering the ‘assumed’ founding, this nation has only existed for a little over 240 years. Historically speaking, this is a very short time indeed, but the march toward a totalitarian end is near. We are now on the brink of that precipice, with one foot already dangling over the cliff. There will be no return to ‘normal’ or any notion of freedom unless a complete dismantling of this very flawed governing system is forthcoming. That can only happen if a majority of the people not only desire it but also are willing to take any and all risks to regain their own independence.

At this stage, our probable downfall will not be due to the few evil oligarchs that are perpetrating this fraud called a ‘virus pandemic,’ it will be due to a complete abandonment of self-responsibility by the people themselves. This truth has to be acknowledged before any relief is possible. So long as blame is spread wide in order to appease the feeble psyche of the pitiful masses, and no accountability for one’s own life and existence is accepted, then no resolution will be attainable.

We now live in a society that has lost its ability to function without rules. The herd is forever looking to find a master instead of looking to self. So long as this attitude is present in the majority, individual sovereignty will not prevail, and a population of order-takers and rule-followers will be the result. That cannot lead to freedom, but only to complete subjugation of the American people. Five hundred years ago, Étienne de La Boétie wrote (free pdf download) “The Politics of Obedience and The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude.” The people of this country have voluntarily given up their freedom, and in the process have become obedient serfs. In this passage below, he summed up the essence of voluntary slavery through obedient behavior.

“It amazes us to hear accounts of the valor that liberty arouses in the hearts of those who defend it; but who could believe reports of what goes on every day among the inhabitants of some countries, who could really believe that one man alone may mistreat a hundred thousand and deprive them of their liberty? Who would credit such a report if he merely heard it, without being present to witness the event? And if this condition occurred only in distant lands and were reported to us, which one among us would not assume the tale to be imagined or invented, and not really true? Obviously, there is no need of fighting to overcome this single tyrant, for he is automatically defeated if the country refuses consent to its own enslavement: it is not necessary to deprive him of anything, but simply to give him nothing; there is no need that the country makes an effort to do anything for itself provided it does nothing against itself. It is, therefore, the inhabitants themselves who permit, or, rather, bring about, their own subjection, since by ceasing to submit they would put an end to their servitude.”

How many times have Americans criticized those in other lands for allowing tyrants to rule over them without rising up to protect their own liberty? How many times have those in this country condemned totalitarian monsters across the world, and called for them to be removed or killed? How many times have Americans cheered for aggressive war against other nations because they lived under brutal regimes? How many times have Americans bragged about being exceptional, and falsely declared that they are the freest people on earth? How many times has this American population allowed that same tyranny and brutality here at home and done nothing?

I can tell you, most all in this country are voluntarily allowing this takeover today, and are doing absolutely nothing to stop it. Civil disobedience and mass dissent would be enough to quell this onslaught of government lies, carnage, murder, and liberty destruction, but while you condemn others, you sit idle and watch your own freedom taken away without ever lifting a finger to stop it. Shame on all of you who refuse to disobey, and refuse to defend your own freedom!

8 INDICATORS THAT PREDICT THE COMING FOOD CRISIS IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2024 - FAMINE OF GODS WORD IN AMERICAS PULPITS,WILL LEAD TO LITERAL FAMINE AND STARVATION IN THE U.S.A

It can be hard to imagine a looming food crisis when you can walk into your local grocery store and see shelves overflowing with abundance. You can find easily find everything you need, and plenty that you don’t.

You might even ignore those around you warning you to stock up on food while you still can. In fact, they might seem like Chicken Little desperately calling out, “The sky is falling!”

But don’t let the full shelves fool you. While the sky may not actually be falling, the world is facing a food shortage. It’s only a matter of time until it hits. Until then, the government wants you to keep walking into the stores, feeling like everything is fine.

The world’s food situation is not fine. Here are just eight of the many indicators that it’s time to stockpile food, and start growing some of your own.

1. Raising Food Prices

Have you noticed the price of groceries rising in your area? I sure have here, especially for basic staple ingredients such as butter, flour, and rice. Every time I head to the store, it seems like I have to stretch my food dollars a little further.

It’s not just in my neck of the woods where prices are creeping up. According to a study by the USDA Economic Research Service, supermarket prices are expected to rise .25-1.25 percent during 2016, and 1.0-2.0 percent during 2017. While those percentage points may seem low, they’re still moving up.

But, since the price of gas and food are intertwined, those numbers could soar past predictions if gas goes up again. Most of the food in the supermarket wasn’t grown in your local area. It was shipped there, requiring fuel.

As food prices continue rising, it’s getting harder and harder for families to buy what they need. That means the number of families now getting food assistance from the government continues to grow. It’s not a healthy outlook for our food supply.

2. Drought

Plants need water to grow and produce harvestable yields. As temperatures around the world rise, droughts are becoming more common.

Widespread droughts are hitting fertile cropland across the planet. From California to India, low rainfall and high temperatures cause devastation on crop production. Long-term forecasts indicate these weather patterns are likely to continue.

3. Diseases Wiping Out Crops & Animals

It’s not just the weather wreaking havoc on our food supply, it’s also disease. From the virulent Panama disease taking out bananas to African Swine Fever that can wipe out entire pig farms, diseases are running rampant in the food supply.

Modern food production techniques such as CAFOs create the perfect environment for peril. In a natural setting, you’d see a couple of pigs on farms across the landscape. They’d be interacting with nature, and have other animals and plant life around to help keep disease causing parasites at bay.

Instead, the majority of today’s pig farms are just pigs and concrete all around. When a disease comes in, it quickly moves through the whole herd. Often entire farms have to execute their animals to prevent the disease from spreading.

The loss of that many animals plays a role in rising food prices. Supply can no longer keep up with demand.

These issues aren’t just a problem for pigs. Cows, chickens, and other animals are being raised in conditions that make them prone for disease.

Crops are being raised in similar fashion. Instead of farmers growing a variety of crops, you see corn growing in huge fields for miles around. There are similar fields for soybeans, wheat, and other crops.

4. Food Safety Concerns

Have you noticed how often food is being recalled? From peanuts to frozen vegetables, meat to processed foods, it’s hard to trust the establishment to deliver safe food to your table. Listeria, e-coli, salmonella, and a host of other food borne illnesses are harming and killing people around the globe. Modern food handling practices have led to these food safety concerns.

Factories play a part in the production of numerous food products. When one factory has a role to play in the bulk of the food system, a containment can quickly spread.

Add transportation, storage, and unsafe handling, and you’ve got food that’s ready to play host to multiple strains of bacteria. Then there’s that whole GMO debate. Some countries don’t believe that genetically modified foods are safe for consumption. Others have drunk the GMO Kool-Aid and are pushing them on the marketplace at an astounding rate.

That’s another reason to grow your own food. You can pick heirloom varieties that haven’t been modified. No matter what you grow and preserve, be sure to inspect what you stockpile to ensure it’s safe.

5. Crops Being Used for Other Purposes

Crops aren’t just being grown to feed humans anymore. A huge portion of our food supply goes to feed cows. Cows were never meant to eat grains in the first place! Let them eat hay, and that’ll relieve a huge burden on our food supply.

Then there’s the whole ethanol thing. About a quarter of US corn is being used for fuel instead of food now. With a food crisis already in the works, using food for other purposes adds to the problem.

6. The Death of Small Farms

The family farmer is slowly become obsolete. Small family farms are being bought out by large mega-farms.

When single companies have their hands in so much of the food chain, a blow to one can cause huge problems. Conversely, when you have hundreds of small farms producing, it’s easy for the others to step in and make up the difference if one experiences loss.

But with rules and regulations definitely favoring mega-farms, it’s no wonder that small ones are selling out and shutting down. As governments continue persecuting small farmers, the number of farms producing your food will continue to shrink.

7. Mistreated Soil

The Fukushima crisis spewed nuclear material onto much of Japan. That soil isn’t safe to grow food in, and probably won’t be for a long time.

Nuclear disasters aren’t the only thing polluting our soil. Farming practices that strip all the nutrients out and dump chemicals back in also play a role.

Mega-farms don’t tend to care about the soil. They just like the money. Until sustainable practices are used in the ag industry, our soil will continue being mistreated.

Bad soil won’t grow as much food. However, it will keep bringing the food crisis closer to our reality.

8. Dependence on Processed Food

The majority of food on supermarket shelves is highly processed. This is the food that many people rely on to supply their nutrition on a daily basis. This boxed and packaged food hardly resembles real food. Because of this, people are becoming further removed from the source of their food.

Many don’t know how to make bread. They don’t know how to cut apart a chicken. They don’t know what animal hamburger comes from. For many people, food just comes from the store. That’s all they know, and this attitude is dangerous.

The further people get from their food, the easier it is for a crisis to occur. They’re totally dependent on other people to supply what they eat. When those farms or factories shut down, they simply won’t have a clue how to begin feeding themselves and their family.

How to Prepare for the Food Crisis

It’s not too late to begin preparing for the coming food crisis. You can begin taking steps to ensure your family’s survival when the grocery store shelves are empty. Here are a few important ones:

Education

Ensure you know where your food comes from. If you are currently food ignorant, make friends with some farmers. Do some research. Learn all you can. Feeding yourself doesn’t have to be complicated!

To take it a step further, you can educate yourself about local food regulations. Be on the lookout for laws that are restricting your right to feed your family. Play an active role in the political process to end the regulations that are strangling small farms.

Buy Local

Source food that’s grown as close to you as possible. Not only will you be supporting your local economy and farmers, you’ll also be eating food that’s fresher.

Local sources of food are less likely to be affected by national food shortages. If you’re already used to finding food that’s not in a supermarket, you’ll be a step ahead when the time comes.

Start Producing Your Own Food

No matter where you live, you can begin growing your own food. If you don’t have much space, put a couple of containers in your windowsills. Learn how to grow food in small spaces.

If you have more space, consider getting some livestock. Rabbits and chickens are allowed in many cities, and you’ll be producing your own meat and eggs.

You can continue to expand your survival garden as space allows.

If you grow too much, learn how to preserve your harvest. Freezing, dehydrating, canning, and fermenting are some of the methods used to save food for later.

Producing your own food will help you lower your food bill and gain self-sufficiency. Everything you grow better prepares you for the food crisis.

Learn How to Cook

Stop buying processed food and take back your kitchen. Learn how to prepare simple, nutritious food that your family enjoys. Good food doesn’t have to be complicated!

Stockpile Food

Each time you go shopping, make it a point to buy some extra food. But, you shouldn’t just buy any food. You really need to stockpile what you actually eat.

Otherwise your family will have to adjust to both a crisis and new food when the time comes. It’s much better to have food on hand that you enjoy.

You don’t have to spend a ton of money to stock up. If your budget is really tight, try allocating just $5 or $10 a shopping trip. While it doesn’t sound like much, you’ll begin growing your reserves.

Be sure you store your stockpiles properly to keep pests and bacteria out. You also need to rotate your stores, which is why you should be eating what you’re storing. When I add to my stockpile, I put the new in the back. That way I use the older food first.

Most People Overlook the Value of Money in SHTF Situations: When Society Collapses and Economic Breakdowns Occur, the Value of Money in SHTF Situations Diminishes Considerably

I am Selco and I am from the Balkan region, and as some of you may know it was hell here from 92-95, anyway, for 1 whole year I lived and survived in a city WITHOUT: electricity, fuel, running water, food distribution, without any kind of organized law or government. The city was surrounded for 1 year and it actually was a real SHTF situation. Our allies were our enemies from one day to the next. Today I’m prepared and share my experience on this blog.

When society collapses and economic breakdowns occur, the value of money in SHTF situations diminishes considerably, rendering traditional currencies like paper money and coins almost useless. In such scenarios, the bartering system becomes vital, and commodities like gold and silver establish themselves as practical means of trade due to their consistent value and demand. These precious metals offer a secure investment for long-term disaster scenarios and play a crucial role in preserving wealth during challenging times. With the potential for traditional banking systems to fail and currency rates to plummet, the significance of money in survival situations underscores the importance of possessing tangible assets that retain intrinsic value throughout crises.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Gold and silver maintain consistent value, making them practical means of trade in SHTF situations.
  • Investing in precious metals can help preserve wealth during challenging times.
  • The traditional banking system may fail during crises, emphasizing the importance of tangible assets.
  • Developing bartering skills can be essential for survival and money management in disaster scenarios.
  • Stockpiling essential goods and investing in sustainable solutions bolsters preparedness and resilience during emergencies.

An Overview of Economic Breakdown in SHTF Scenarios

In the wake of a SHTF event, the collapse of society leads to the devaluation and possible uselessness of paper currency. Government support for banking systems can cease, rendering funds inaccessible and destroying the economic stability in survival scenarios. These catastrophic disruptions underscore the vulnerability of relying solely on traditional monetary systems.

As a result, alternate currencies, particularly precious metals like gold and silver, see a dramatic increase in value and become crucial for trade and survival amid collapsing economic structures. The currency value during emergencies plays a significant role in determining the course of action for individuals during a crisis. Let’s take a closer look at how the importance of money during a crisis can impact your decision-making and what strategies can help you in maximizing financial resources in a disaster.

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” – Benjamin Franklin

Following are some factors that can affect the value of traditional currency and the need for alternative resources during crisis situations:

  1. Loss of confidence in government-backed financial institutions.
  2. Rapid inflation or hyperinflation, causing paper currency to lose its purchasing power.
  3. Lack of access to bank accounts and financial services due to widespread disruptions in communication networks and infrastructure.
  4. Increase in crime and theft, leading to the loss of physical cash.

Given these potential challenges, it becomes essential to explore alternative forms of currency and means of sustaining your financial footing during SHTF scenarios, such as the role of precious metals and essential goods in bartering:

Precious MetalsEssential Goods
Gold and silver maintain a stable value and can act as a hedge against inflation.Food, medicines, and other necessary items can be used for trade and sustenance during emergencies.
Precious metals are universally accepted, facilitating transactions in various global locations.High-demand items (e.g., batteries, flashlights) can become essential currencies in a barter-based economy.
Coins, in particular, are easy to carry and offer practicality in small-scale transactions.Sustainable production of tradable goods (e.g., farming, alcohol) can help build self-sufficiency and resilience in the long run.

In conclusion, understanding the dynamics of economic breakdown during catastrophic events is crucial to ensure preparedness and safeguard your financial interests. By diversifying your financial resources and focusing on alternative investment avenues, you can navigate the complexities of a SHTF scenario and emerge stronger on the other side.

The Role of Precious Metals in SHTF Preparedness

Gold and silver have a longstanding reputation as dependable stores of value. Their historical stability and demand during economic turmoil provide a safeguard against the devaluation of paper money, making them a key component for financial preparedness in SHTF situations.

GOLD AND SILVER AS A STORE OF VALUE

Investment in gold and silver for disaster scenarios is a wise decision, as these precious metals hold their value even during times of crisis. Unlike traditional currencies, which may lose their value due to inflation or economic collapse, gold and silver remain valuable even as paper money becomes worthless.

BARTERING WITH PRECIOUS METALS WHEN CURRENCY FAILS

When traditional currencies fail in SHTF scenariosgold and silver serve as reliable alternatives for barteringenabling individuals to trade for essentials. The universal acceptance of precious metals facilitates transaction processes crucial for survival and sustenance. During the exchange of goods and services, gold and silver can help procure necessities such as food, water, medicine, and shelter.

CHOOSING COINS OVER BARS FOR PRACTICAL TRADE

Opting for coins over bars in precious metal ownership is advisable due to the recognizability and standardization of weight and purity in coinagesuch as pre-1965 US silver coins. Coins present a practical trade format with their utility in small-scale transactions and established face values. Moreover, coins are easily divisible and can be used in various denominations to accommodate different transaction needs.

Precious MetalAdvantagesExamples
Gold Coins
  • High value-to-weight ratio
  • Widely recognized and accepted
  • Easily divisible for small transactions
American Gold Eagle, South African Krugerrand
Silver Coins
  • Lower cost to acquire
  • Recognizable minting
  • Smaller denominations for everyday purchases

Barter Essentials: Alternatives to Traditional Currency

In a barter economy arising from SHTF situations, possessing tradable items like tools, food staples, personal care products, and medicines becomes critical. High-demand items, such as batteries and flashlights, can be essential currencies, and the ability to replenish certain goods sustainably, including alcohol and tobacco, can prove invaluable in long-term scenarios. Let’s explore some of the essentials that can act as alternatives to traditional currency in emergencies.

  1. Tools and equipment: Having a surplus of versatile tools and equipment serves a dual purpose by not only making essential tasks more manageable but also by providing bargaining power in trade situations.
  2. Food staples: Non-perishable food items, such as canned goods, grains, and dried fruits, contribute to individual survival and can be easily bartered for other essentials during crises.
  3. Personal care products: Items like soap, toothpaste, and toilet paper become precious commodities in post-apocalyptic situations, making them valuable for trade.
  4. Medicines and first aid items: Over-the-counter medications, prescription drugs, and first aid supplies will always be in high demand, boosting their value in trade situations.

Consider investing in home safes that are fireproof, waterproof, and tamper-resistant for maximum protection. Diversify your hiding places to prevent potential thieves from locating all your valuables in one spot. This strategy can involve concealing small caches of precious metals throughout your home, property, or potentially in multiple locations to increase the chance of retention during a crisis.

PHYSICAL PROTECTION STRATEGIES IN HOSTILE SITUATIONS

Physical defenses against theftsuch as self-defense measuressecured premisesand the ability to incapacitate intruders with non-lethal means like pepper sprayare essential to protecting valuables. In extreme situationsone may need to confront moral dilemmas when deciding to use lethal force to defend their possessions.

  1. Self-defense measures: Gain knowledge of effective self-defense techniques, and consider owning personal protection tools like a Taser or a collapsible baton to ward off intruders.
  2. Secured premises: Strengthen your home’s security through reinforced doors, windows, and security cameras, along with an alarm system that alerts you to potential intruders.
  3. Non-lethal means of protection: Familiarize yourself with non-lethal devices like pepper spray or tear gas in case you need to incapacitate an intruder without causing lasting harm.

Ultimately, the priority is to protect your financial resources from theft and loss. Implement a comprehensive strategy that combines secure storage and physical protection measures. This approach will help safeguard your assets and ensure your financial well-being during unpredictable and chaotic SHTF events.

Understanding Liquidity and Portability of Assets in a Crisis

In SHTF scenarios, the liquidity and portability of assets in emergencies become crucial aspects of survival. These assets’ ease of trade, universal acceptance, and the ability to carry significant value in small quantities make them ideal for individuals who may require mobility and quick access to resources during emergencies.

Gold and silver are prime examples of assets that excel in terms of liquidity and portability, which are essential for effective asset management during SHTF. Not only do these precious metals maintain value across various economic climates, but they are also easily divisible and recognizable, allowing for hassle-free transactions.

“Gold and silver are accepted as money all over the world, and their value does not depend on the stability of a paper currency or the strength of a nation.” – Mark O’Byrne

It’s important to keep in mind the factors that contribute to the accessibility of resources in crises when building a survival plan. Here is a summary of what to consider when evaluating asset liquidity and portability for all types of valuables:

  1. Universal acceptance
  2. Ability to be easily divided into smaller units
  3. Recognition and established value
  4. Portable and easily transported

For a comprehensive overview, we compiled a table that compares various types of assets in terms of liquidity and portability during a crisis:

Balancing Your SHTF Portfolio: Cash, Goods, and Precious Metals

Creating a balanced SHTF financial strategy requires a thoughtful combination of cash, essential goods, and precious metals to address immediate and prolonged crisis periods. While cash plays a crucial role during the initial stages of a disaster, essential goods and precious metals serve as long-term survival investments. The key to balancing assets in survival portfolios is prioritizing the diversification of survival resources.

The following table illustrates an optimal allocation of assets in an emergency financial portfolio:

While percentages may vary based on individual requirements and risk tolerance, this basic framework provides a solid foundation for a well-balanced SHTF portfolio. Consistently reviewing and adjusting the portfolio as needed helps ensure that resources maintain their relevance and effectiveness in various crisis scenarios.

Diversifying your SHTF strategy ensures a solid foundation for addressing the unique challenges of different crisis situations. A combination of cash, goods, and precious metals allows for greater flexibility and adaptability in times of need.

Consider following these guidelines to ensure a well-balanced and diverse survival portfolio:

  1. Maintain an emergency cash reserve for immediate needs during the initial stages of a disaster
  2. Invest in essential goods that offer long-term survival benefits, such as food, medicine, and tools
  3. Allocate a portion of assets to precious metals like gold and silver as a reliable store of value and hedge against inflation
  4. Periodically review and adjust the portfolio by reallocating resources based on emerging circumstances and survival needs

By integrating these principles into your SHTF financial strategy, you enhance your ability to respond effectively to various emergencies while safeguarding your resources and improving your chances of long-term survival.

Bartering Skills and Sustainable Solutions in Long-Term SHTF Events

In the face of long-term SHTF events, establishing sustainable solutions and mastering bartering proficiency emerge as crucial survival strategies. Gaining self-sufficiency and resilience through practices like farming, livestock raising, and home production of in-demand items, such as alcohol and tobacco, can considerably contribute to one’s wealth and position in a post-collapse scenario.

Not only does cultivating sustainable resources provide the essentials for survival, but they also serve as valuable commodities for trade in a bartering economy. Building expertise in renewable energy sources, offering protection services, or even possessing rare skill sets can elevate one’s status in the community and enhance bargaining power.

As traditional currencies lose their hold and society shifts towards a barter system in the midst of SHTF situations, the ability to offer sought-after goods and services is paramount. Integrating long-term survival strategies into your preparedness plan, coupled with the development of bartering proficiency in post-collapse scenarios, ensures a greater chance of enduring and prevailing during extended periods of crisis and societal breakdown.
